Tour Our Estate Winery
Just an hour west and a world away from Toronto are the vineyards of
fertile Niagara. Among the area's picturesque landscaping
is the noteworthy De Sousa Wine Cellars. With a well preserved
Portuguese heritage, this destination is one of the great wineries in Ontario.
| Our wines are given the utmost
attention and devotion, which spawns a unique and exquisite taste only
the Portuguese tradition could create. All of our red wines are carefully
aged in oak to achieve the flavour and bouquet taught to us by our forefathers.
In the Spring of 1998, De Sousa Wines
opened its Toronto facility. "This is the only
winery located in the heart of Toronto" said John Jr.
"and in keeping with the tradition of the Beamsville
location, we are dedicated to producing wines of
exceptional character and quality." |

Visitors
are invited to taste the wines and tour the picturesque interior of the
new location with the assurance of being greeted with the same De Sousa
family tradition of hospitality. John Jr. added, "We are looking
forward to making our Toronto winery a destination where fine wines and
enjoyable ambience go hand-in-hand." Visit our
winery boutique and taste wines in a picturesque Portuguese
setting using our traditional clay cups. These red clay,
unglazed cups produce similar effects to aging in red wines.
They clay attracts sediment particles in the wine creating a
smoother and more round flavour on the palate by softening the
tannins in the wine. This brings forward more fruit and earth
flavours in the wine. Try it out and see if you can notice the
difference! |
If you are making your way through our beautiful
wine country during the summer months, our DeSousa property is a great
place to stop, take in some scenery and enjoy a light lunch. Make
yourself comfortable on one of the picnic tables scattered throughout
the property, or on our vineyard patio with a boxed lunch, prepared by
EastDell Estates Chef, Thomas King. For the ultimate wine experience add
a glass of wine to your luncheon.
